1968 Gibson Melody Maker III SG, pelham blue. Made in USA, serial number 960151. This guitar is all original except for the tuners, bridge and bridge posts and the pickguard screws. It currently mounts a vintage replacement pickguard, the original (with faded '68 Gibson logo and to broken corners) is in the original softshell case. The wiring was modified for the middle position to have a beefy Strat style with the bridge and middle pickups combined. This is a very nice specimen overall, with very little wear given its age, has one larger ding by the nut on the bass side of the neck. It does have a ca. 5cm / 2" longitudinal crack behind the headstock, which usually shows when the truss rod nut applies too much pressure. The truss rod however was never abused and works perfectly, straight and great playing neck. The crack is not deep and may not go beyond the finish and is of no structural concern, but it is visible. So there you go, a structurally perfectly fine guitar, priced to sell. Weighs 3.1kg
